Set a profile's fingerprint options
This guide lists the fingerprint options on a profile and shows you how to change them. Every profile gets a fingerprint when it’s created, so you only need this if you want a specific setup.
Open the options
Section titled “Open the options”- Go to Browser Profiles, then the Profiles tab.
- Click the profile’s name.
- In the sheet, click the Fingerprint icon on the left. Hover over an icon to see its name.
- Change what you need, then click Save.
Changes apply the next time the profile starts.
Operating system
Section titled “Operating system”| Option | What you can set |
|---|---|
| User-Agent | Nothing directly. It’s read-only and updates from the three options below. |
| Operating system | macOS, Windows or Linux. |
| OS version | A version from the list for that system. |
| Architecture | The processor type from the list for that system. |
Changing Operating system shows a warning, because the profile gets a new fingerprint when you save. The lists for OS version, Architecture, Processor & memory, Graphics card and Resolution also change to suit the new system.
Hardware
Section titled “Hardware”| Option | What you can set |
|---|---|
| Processor & memory | A pair such as 8 cores · 16 GB, or Custom… |
| Graphics card (GPU) | A card from the list, or Custom… |
Custom… for Processor & memory shows Custom cores / GB, where you type the two numbers.
Custom… for Graphics card shows Custom WebGL/WebGPU, with four fields: WebGL vendor, WebGL renderer, WebGPU vendor and WebGPU arch.
Display
Section titled “Display”Resolution lists common screen sizes. Choose Custom… to type your own in Custom WxH, such as 1920x1080.
Network
Section titled “Network”Connection privacy (WebRTC) controls how WebRTC reports your network.
| Choice | What it does |
|---|---|
| Real | Reports your real network. |
| Automatic | The app’s suggested setting for most setups. |
| Disabled | Turns WebRTC reporting off. |
Location and language
Section titled “Location and language”Languages, Timezone and Geolocation are on the Proxy & location pane, because they usually follow the proxy. See Create a profile.
Generate a new fingerprint
Section titled “Generate a new fingerprint”You can replace a profile’s whole fingerprint.
From the sheet:
- Open the Fingerprint pane.
- Click Generate new fingerprint.
The app says New fingerprint generated and shows the new values. This applies straight away, without Save.
From the table:
- Select one or more profiles, or just right-click one.
- Right-click and click Regenerate Fingerprint.
The item is greyed out while any of the selected profiles is running. Stop them first.
Set defaults for new profiles
Section titled “Set defaults for new profiles”- Go to Browser Profiles, then the Browser Settings tab.
- Find the This device card.
- Set any of these. Leave a field blank to let ExitNode pick a matching value.
| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| Default OS | macOS, Windows or Linux |
| OS version | |
| Architecture | |
| Languages | en-US, en |
| Timezone | America/New_York |
| WebRTC | Real, Automatic or Disable |
| Screen (WxH) | 1920x1080 |
| WebGL vendor and WebGL renderer | Fill in both, or neither. |
| WebGPU vendor and WebGPU architecture | Fill in both, or neither. |
| Hardware concurrency | A number of processor cores. |
| Device memory (GB) |
- Click Save.
These defaults only affect profiles you create on this computer, with Quick Profile, Add multiple profiles or New from template. They don’t change existing profiles, and they aren’t shared with your team.
See fingerprint details in the table
Section titled “See fingerprint details in the table”To add these to the profile table, click Columns and tick them:
- OS
- Browser Version
The small line under each profile’s name also shows its operating system and browser version.
