Launch, stop and monitor profiles
This guide shows you how to start and stop profiles, what each status means, what to do when a launch stops, and how owners and admins can watch running profiles.
Start and stop one profile
Section titled “Start and stop one profile”- Go to Browser Profiles, then the Profiles tab.
- Click Start in the profile’s row.
- When you’re done, click Stop, or close the browser window.
Starting a profile also shows the floating Codes window, unless you’ve hidden it yourself. See Verification codes.
What the button means
Section titled “What the button means”| Button | What’s happening |
|---|---|
| Start | The profile is closed. Click to open it. |
| Starting… | The browser is opening. |
| Stop | The profile is running on this computer. Click to close it. |
| Uploading… | The browser has closed and the session is being saved. Wait for Start to come back. |
| Running | The profile is already running, and this control can’t stop it from here. |
| In use | Someone else, or another of your devices, has it open. You can’t start it until it closes. |
Running rows are highlighted in the table.
Start or stop several
Section titled “Start or stop several”- Tick the profiles.
- In the bar at the bottom, click Launch or Stop.
You can also right-click a selected row and choose Launch or Stop.
If you pick more than 3, the app asks you to confirm, because each one opens a browser window. Profiles that are already open are skipped. Each session is saved before it closes.
Quit the app with profiles open
Section titled “Quit the app with profiles open”When you quit, the app shows Closing sessions… while it saves and closes each running profile. Wait for it to finish.
When a launch stops
Section titled “When a launch stops”ExitNode checks a profile’s proxy before it opens the browser. If there’s a problem, the profile doesn’t open.
Launch blocked
Section titled “Launch blocked”The Launch blocked dialog explains the problem and lists your other active proxies.
- Click Use beside a proxy to switch to it and launch again.
- If the profile draws from a pool, click Take the next one from the pool’s name to get another from there.
- Click Cancel to leave the profile as it is.
Common reasons shown:
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| The proxy was unreachable. | The proxy didn’t answer. |
| Exit IP differs from the tested IP. | The proxy now exits from a different IP than when it was tested. |
| Exit IP changed | The same, with both IPs shown. |
| The assigned proxy is disabled. | The proxy was turned off. |
| Needs a proxy | The profile has no usable proxy. See Keep a profile on your proxies. |
Tested gateway unreachable
Section titled “Tested gateway unreachable”This appears for some sticky proxies, when this computer can’t reach the route the proxy was tested on. If you can manage proxies, you can click Launch through this computer’s route anyway. The exit IP is still checked, and a different one still blocks the launch. Without that permission, you only see the message.
Proxy not answering
Section titled “Proxy not answering”The proxy didn’t answer. You can retry, or pick another proxy.
Monitoring
Section titled “Monitoring”Owners and admins can see live thumbnails of the profiles their team has open. Monitoring in the sidebar only appears for them.
Turn it on
Section titled “Turn it on”- Click Monitoring in the sidebar.
- Click Enable monitoring.
The heading changes to Live monitoring on. Everyone in the organization sees a Monitoring on chip at the top of the app while it’s on.
To turn it off, click Disable.
Read the grid
Section titled “Read the grid”Each running profile has a card with:
- A thumbnail of the browser.
- The profile’s name, with a green dot if it updated in the last few seconds.
- The device it’s running on, and how long ago the thumbnail was taken.
A card disappears shortly after the profile stops. Use Search profiles… to filter by profile or device name.
See what your team is running
