Organize your profiles

This guide covers the ways to keep many profiles in order: groups, tags, filters, archiving, cloning, templates, the trash and saved snapshots.

A group is a folder for profiles. The right-click menu calls it Move to Folder…, and everywhere else it’s a group. These are different from proxy groups, which hold proxies.

Groups also control who can see profiles. See Members and roles.

  1. Go to Browser Profiles, then the Groups tab.
  2. Click New group.
  3. Type a Group name, then click Create.

You can also make one while moving profiles. Choose New group… in the move menu.

  1. On the Profiles tab, tick the profiles.
  2. In the bar at the bottom, click Move to group. Or right-click and choose Move to Folder….
  3. Pick a group, New group…, or Uncategorized to take them out of any group.

If the group has members with access, the app warns that moving profiles there grants those members access. Click Move to go ahead.

On the Profiles tab, the first dropdown in the toolbar shows All groups. Pick a group, or Uncategorized.

On the Groups tab, clicking a group’s name or its profile count opens those profiles.

On the Groups tab, each row has three buttons if you can manage that group:

Button What it does
Rename (pencil) Changes the name.
Manage access & defaults (people) Sets who can use the group, and its defaults.
Delete (trash) Deletes the group. Its profiles move to Uncategorized. They aren’t deleted.

Click Manage access & defaults. Two settings at the top apply to the group’s profiles that are set to Inherit:

  • Default vetting template
  • Default risk policy

Each saves as soon as you change it. The Vetting default and Risk policy columns on the Groups tab show the current values.

Tags are short words you add to profiles, so you can filter across groups.

  • On one profile: click the + in its Tags cell. Click the x on a tag to remove it.
  • On several: tick them, click Tags in the bottom bar.
  • On the options sheet: type tags separated by commas under General.

When any profile has tags, a row of tag chips appears under the toolbar. Click chips to filter the table. With two or more selected, you can switch between matching any tag and matching all of them.

On the Profiles tab, Filters offers:

Filter Choices
Status Any, Active, Archived
OS Any, macOS, Windows, Linux
Proxy Any, Has proxy, Direct

Clear all resets them. Search profiles… filters the rows as you type.

Archiving keeps a profile but marks it as out of use.

  • One profile: open it, then set Status to Archived under General, and click Save.
  • Several: tick them, click Status in the bottom bar, then click Archive. Restore in the same menu makes them active again.
  1. Right-click the profile and click Clone….
  2. Check the Name. It starts as the original name plus copy.
  3. Choose what the clone gets:
Choice What it does Use it when
Fresh identity A new fingerprint and no proxy. You want a separate profile with the same settings. This one is safe to run alongside the original.
Exact duplicate The same fingerprint and proxy. You need a stand-in for failover only.
  1. Tick Copy session state (cookies/logins) if the clone should start with the original’s saved session.
  2. Click Clone.

Clone… only appears if your role can create profiles.

A template is a saved setup for one kind of profile: its settings, a vetting template, and the proxy group new profiles take proxies from. Profiles made from a template stay linked to it. They pick up changes to its start URL, bookmarks, persistent tabs and extensions at their next launch.

Open the Templates tab. The table shows each template’s Name, Vetting template, Pool, Max reuse and Linked profiles. The Pool cell shows how many proxies are ready, such as 12 ready or none ready.

  1. Click New template. If you don’t see it, your role can only read the list.

  2. Site step:

    • Template name: what you’ll call this kind of profile.
    • Vetting template: the checks its proxies should have passed.
    • The next part depends on your choice. If the vetting template imports passing proxies into a group, the app shows Proxies come from that group. Use a different group lets you change it. If not, choose a group under Collect vetted proxies in. You may also see Fill it from the vetting template, which turns on importing into that group.
    • Profiles per proxy: from 1 to 20. With 1, every profile gets its own proxy. Above 1, profiles may share a proxy once no unused proxy is left.
  3. Profiles step:

    • Operating system: every profile from this template uses it.
    • Profile names: a pattern, with {template} for the template name and {nn} for the number. The default is {template} {nn}. The screen shows examples as you type.
    • Profile group: the group new profiles go into.
    • Tags and Notes: copied into each profile.
  4. Browser step. This is optional, and its button reads Skip while it’s empty:

    • Start URL, Bookmarks and Persistent tabs.
    • Extensions: tick the ones to load.
  5. Review step: check each part, or open a step to change it. Click Create template.

  1. On the Profiles tab, click New from template. This button only appears once a template exists.
  2. Pick a Template. Each option says how many proxies are ready.
  3. Set How many, from 1 to 100.
  4. Click Create.

If there aren’t enough proxies, a dialog offers:

Button What it does
Start a run Opens a test run to find more proxies for this template.
Reuse (shares N) Creates all of them, with N sharing proxies, up to the template’s limit. Only offered when the template allows sharing.
Create N now Creates only as many as there are unused proxies.

If your plan doesn’t have room, the app offers Create N now for the number that fit.

Click a template’s name, or use its ⋯ menu or right-click:

  • Edit opens the same steps, starting at Review. If you change its proxy group, the app says how many linked profiles it affects. Each keeps its current proxy until that proxy is retired.
  • Duplicate starts a new template from this one.
  • Delete removes it. Linked profiles are unlinked and keep their current settings.

To take one profile off a template, see Create a profile.

  1. Tick the profiles and click Delete in the bottom bar. Or right-click and click Delete.
  2. Click Delete in the Move to Trash dialog.

Running profiles are skipped. Stop them first. The app says how many moved and how many it skipped.

Deleted profiles stay restorable for 7 days.

  1. Go to the Groups tab.
  2. Click Recently deleted.
  3. The Restore window column shows the days left. Click Restore beside the profile.

Back to Groups returns you to the list.

In Recently deleted, click Delete permanently, then Delete forever. This removes the profile and its saved session, and can’t be undone.

ExitNode keeps earlier saved versions of a profile’s session.

  1. Stop the profile. The menu item is greyed out while it’s running.
  2. Right-click it and click History & Restore….
  3. Each row shows a version, its date, size and how many sites it has cookies for. The newest is marked (latest) and current.
  4. Click Restore on the version you want, and confirm.

Restoring saves that snapshot as a new latest version. The next launch loads it. Nothing is listed until a profile has opened and closed at least once.

“A group with that name exists” Pick another name.

“Moved N, M skipped” Some profiles couldn’t be moved. You may not have access to change them.

“Use {nn} once in the name pattern. It is where the number goes.” The Profile names pattern has more than one {nn}.

“Max reuse must be a whole number from 1 to 20.” Fix Profiles per proxy.

“The start URL and each bookmark must begin with http:// or https://.” Fix the address on the Browser step.

“This template’s proxy group is gone. Edit the template and choose a pool.” Someone deleted the group. Open the template and pick another.

“You don’t have access to this template’s proxy group.” Ask an owner or admin for access to that group.

“Some of the pool’s proxies are busy right now. Try again in a moment.” Wait and click Create again.

“Profile limit reached. Delete profiles or raise the limit to add more.” Your plan’s limit is full.
