Find your way around the app

This guide shows you where everything is in the ExitNode desktop app and the web app, and how the controls you’ll use on every screen behave.

ExitNode has two parts. You use both with the same account.

Use this For
Desktop app Browser profiles, proxies, cards, inbox, verification codes, team access and the local automation API.
Web app at exitnode.app/app Connecting email domains, credits, plans and billing, transactions, devices and notification settings.

Some things appear in both, such as the inbox, codes and members. Each guide says where to go.

The bar across the top of the desktop app shows:

  • The name of the screen you’re on.
  • Your organization. Click its name to switch to another organization, if you belong to more than one. The menu shows your role in each one.
  • Open Codes. This button shows or hides the floating Codes window. See Verification codes.
  • The window controls.

The sidebar starts collapsed, so you see icons only. Hover over an icon to see its name. Click Expand sidebar at the bottom to show the names, and Collapse sidebar to hide them again. The app remembers your choice.

Item What it’s for

Proxies Add proxies, test them and read their results.
Cards Add, generate and manage payment cards.
Inbox Read mail received at your domains and addresses. The gear beside it opens Inbox Settings.

Settings Theme, browser, automation token and SMS providers. It’s at the bottom of the sidebar.

The sidebar lists a few more areas that these guides don’t cover.

Inbox and Verifications can show a number. That’s how many new items arrived since you last looked.

Above Settings, the sidebar shows how much of your plan you’ve used.

  • Profiles shows active profiles in this organization against your plan’s limit.
  • IP Risk Check is a switch. It turns IP risk scores on or off for the whole organization. Only admins can change it.
  • Checks shows the IP risk checks used this month against your plan’s allowance. It only appears while IP Risk Check is on.

Browser Profiles has these tabs:

Extensions Your extension library.

Most screens are tables, and they work the same way.

  • Search sits above the table. It filters the rows as you type.
  • Filters opens a small panel of filters. Each active filter shows as a chip beside it. Click the x on a chip to clear it.
  • Columns is the icon button beside Filters. It lets you choose which columns appear. Reset to defaults puts them back.
  • Sort by clicking a column heading, where the table allows it.
  • Reorder columns by dragging their headings. Resize by dragging a heading’s edge.
  • Refresh is the circular arrow at the end of the toolbar.

Your column choices are remembered on this computer.

  1. Click a row’s checkbox to select it.
  2. Hold Shift and click another checkbox to select the rows between them.
  3. Use the checkbox in the header to select every row on screen.

A bar appears at the bottom with the number selected, Select all, and the actions you can take. The x clears your selection.

Right-click a row to see what you can do with it. If you’ve selected several rows and you right-click one of them, the menu applies to all of them. Actions you can’t take are greyed out, and actions your role doesn’t allow don’t appear.

Editing a profile or proxy opens a sheet that slides in from the side. Click Save to keep your changes, or Cancel or the x to close without saving.

Some actions apply as soon as you click them, without Save. The guides point these out.

Short messages appear at the edge of the window after you act. They tell you what happened, or what went wrong. Each guide lists the messages you’re most likely to need help with.

Items you can’t use still appear, but they’re greyed out. A lock means your role doesn’t allow it. Upgrade means your plan doesn’t include it.
