Test proxies for a site
This guide shows you how to test proxies for one site. You’ll end up with a saved template for the site, a results table showing each proxy’s speed, reachability, location and risk score, and the passing proxies in a group. It uses example.com throughout.
Testing needs a paid plan. On the Free plan, you see “Proxy checking isn’t enabled for this plan.”
How it fits together
Section titled “How it fits together”| Term on screen | What it is |
|---|---|
| Vetting template | Saved settings for one site: the pages to test, and how strict to be. |
| Run | One test of a set of proxies. |
| Run set | The proxies in the run you’re setting up. |
Create a vetting template
Section titled “Create a vetting template”You can test without a template, but one saves you setting it up each time.
- Go to Proxies, then the Vetting Templates tab.
- Click New template. You need permission to manage templates. Without it, you can use templates but not make them.
Site step
Section titled “Site step”-
Enter a Template name, such as
example.com. -
Under URLs to test, enter one URL per line. The first line is the main URL:
https://www.example.com/https://www.example.com/cart
Checks step
Section titled “Checks step”- Highest IP risk allowed sets the risk score a proxy may have. Pick Up to 1 to Up to 5, or click the gauge. The sentence below it says what passes.
- Skip slow proxies removes slow proxies before any site opens:
| Choice | What it does |
|---|---|
| Don’t skip | Keeps every proxy, however slow. |
| 1 s, 2 s or 5 s | Skips anything slower than this. |
| Custom | Type a number of milliseconds. |
- Open More options to set Time limit per site: how long each page gets to load before it counts as a fail. The choices are 5 s, 10 s · usual, 20 s, 30 s or Custom, up to 60 seconds.
Proxies step
Section titled “Proxies step”This step is optional. The button reads Skip while it’s empty.
- Test proxies from sets a default source. Choose Proxy preset or Proxy group, then pick one, or leave Let each run choose.
- For a sticky preset, you can also set the location, time and count. Leave them blank to use the preset’s own.
- To send passing proxies to a group automatically, turn on Import passing proxies and pick a group under Add them to. You only see this if you can manage proxies.
Review step
Section titled “Review step”- Check each part. Click a part to go back and change it.
- Click Create template. The app says Template created.
Manage your templates
Section titled “Manage your templates”Right-click a template:
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| New run | Starts a test with this template. |
| Edit | Opens the steps again. |
| Set as default or Remove default | The default is picked first in new runs. Your organization has one at a time. |
| Delete | Deletes it. |
Built-in templates are read-only, and their addresses stay private. You can run them, but not edit them.
Start a run
Section titled “Start a run”Click Test proxies at the top right of the Proxies screen. You can also click Test on a group, or New run on the Test Proxies tab. The New vetting run dialog has four steps. Click a step to open it.
Saved run at the top lets you reuse a whole setup. See Saved runs, below.
1. Target
Section titled “1. Target”Choose what to test against:
| Choice | Use it when |
|---|---|
| None | You only want to rank proxies, with no site. |
| A saved template | You want your saved site and settings. Pick example.com. It fills in the other steps. |
| Custom | You want to type URLs just for now. Save as template… keeps them. |
2. Source
Section titled “2. Source”Choose which proxies to test:
| Choice | What it tests |
|---|---|
| Proxy preset | Fresh sessions made from a preset. |
| Proxy group | The proxies already in a group. |
| Paste proxies | Lines you paste, one per line. |
Rotating proxies can’t be tested, because they get a new IP on every request.
3. Session
Section titled “3. Session”This step depends on your source.
- Sticky preset: set the location and session time. Under Run set, Sessions sets how many to make, up to 64.
- Group: nothing to set. The proxies are used as they are.
- Paste: set Rotation (Static or Sticky), Type and Label.
4. Checks
Section titled “4. Checks”These start from your template, and you can change them for this run:
- Skip slow over a number of milliseconds.
- Max wait per URL in seconds.
- Max risk, from 1 to 5.
Send passing proxies to a group
Section titled “Send passing proxies to a group”When it finishes: import passing proxies into picks a group, or None. If your template sets one, the app says so. You only see this if you can manage proxies.
Run set and start
Section titled “Run set and start”The right side shows the Run set. To check or rename proxies first, click Add the group’s proxies, Create N sessions or Add N proxies. You can rename a row, or remove it with x. You don’t have to do this. The start button fills the run set for you.
Click the start button. Its label follows your setup: Start vetting, Vet the group, Vet N proxies or Create N sessions & vet.
If you close the dialog with proxies in the run set, the app asks before throwing them away.
Read the results
Section titled “Read the results”The app moves to the Test Proxies tab and fills in the table as each proxy finishes. A bar at the bottom shows progress, such as 3 of 20. The run dropdown in the toolbar switches between runs.
Result
Section titled “Result”| Result | What it means |
|---|---|
| Waiting… | Not started yet. |
| In progress | Being tested now. |
| Passed | The proxy passed its checks. |
| Failed | It didn’t. The text beside it names the URL that failed. |
| Skipped · too slow | It was slower than your limit, so no site was opened. |
| Skipped · too risky | Its risk was above your limit, so no site was opened. |
The small bars under the result show one tick per URL. Green answered, red didn’t, and grey is being tested. The numbers at the right show how many are done.
See the details for one proxy
Section titled “See the details for one proxy”Click the ticks. A sheet shows the Exit IP, Location and Verdict, then one row per URL:
| Row shows | What it means |
|---|---|
| HTTP 200 · 120 ms | The URL answered with that status, in that time. |
| No response | The URL didn’t answer. |
| Skipped (slow exit IP) | It wasn’t tested. |
| Skipped (risky exit IP) | It wasn’t tested. |
| Testing… or Waiting | Still going. |
A green tick means the URL answered. Read the HTTP status beside it to see how it answered. Failed only hides the rest.
The other columns
Section titled “The other columns”| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| # | The proxy’s place in the run. Click to sort back into run order. |
| Proxy | The proxy’s line, with the password hidden. Click to copy the full line. |
| Session | About how long a sticky session has left. |
| Location / Exit IP | Where it exits, its IP and its speed. |
| Risk | Its risk score. See below. |
| Run | Which run. Click to show only that run. |
| Checked | How long ago. |
Latency is off by default. Turn it on with Columns.
What the score means
Section titled “What the score means”ExitNode gives each proxy’s exit IP a risk score from 1 to 5.
| Score | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Risk 1 | Least risky |
| Risk 2 | Some risk |
| Risk 3 | Risky |
| Risk 4 | Very risky |
| Risk 5 | Most risky |
A dash means there’s no score. A proxy skipped for being slow has none, and neither does any proxy while IP Risk Check is off.
There’s no single combined score. You judge a proxy on its Result, Risk, speed and location together.
Each score uses one check from your plan’s monthly allowance. The Checks meter in the sidebar shows what’s left. See Proxy checks and risk.
Send passing proxies to a group
Section titled “Send passing proxies to a group”You have three ways.
Set it in the template. Turn on Import passing proxies. Every run with that template adds its passing proxies to the group.
Set it for one run. Use When it finishes: import passing proxies into. When the run ends, a message says how many were imported, and it also shows in the strip above the table.
Pick them yourself after the run:
- In the strip above the table, click Passed to show only those.
- Tick the proxies, or use the header checkbox.
- Click Import in the bottom bar. You need permission to manage proxies.
- Under Destination, choose:
- Proxies list (no group).
- A group.
- New static group…, then type a New group name.
- Click Import.
A proxy already in another group moves to the one you pick. The app tells you how many were imported, moved and skipped.
Presets aren’t listed, because they make their own sessions.
The bottom bar also has Copy proxies, which copies the full lines. Export CSV in the toolbar saves every check that matches your filters.
Saved runs
Section titled “Saved runs”A saved run keeps the whole setup: target, source, session and checks. It’s shared with your organization.
- Set up the run as you want it.
- Click Save run…, type a Saved run name, and click Save. If the name is taken, the app asks before replacing that one for everyone.
- Next time, pick it from the Saved run dropdown. modified appears if you change it.
The ⋯ beside it has Open with this saved run, which makes new runs start with it, and Delete saved run….
Look back at past runs
Section titled “Look back at past runs”The History tab keeps your runs. Switch between Runs and Checks in the toolbar.
Runs has one row per run: Run, Result, Status, Targets, Started and Duration. Filters offers Status and Sessions. Click a row to open its checks. Its ⋯ menu has Show checks, Show passed checks and Export checks (CSV).
Checks has one row per proxy check, across runs. Filters lets you narrow by:
| Filter | Choices |
|---|---|
| Result | Passed, Failed, Skipped, Skipped (slow), Skipped (risky) |
| Outcome at a site | Answered, Blocked, Captcha, No answer |
| When | Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Custom range |
| Session | Usable now, Active, Expiring soon, Expired, No session |
| Length | Up to 15 min, Up to 30 min, Up to 1 h, Longer than 1 h |
| Risk | Risk 1 to Risk 5, Not scored |
| Country | A two-letter code, such as US. |
| Max latency (ms) | A number. |
You can pick proxies here and Import them, the same way as above. Session is an estimate from when the check finished.
